SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Hundreds of union ferry workers rallied for jobs at pier 31 1/2 in San Francisco today, as part of a labor dispute that has been going on since September.
It all started when the Park Service switched Blue and Gold Fleet’s contract to take passengers to Alcatraz Island to Hornblower Yachts. Hornblower promised to use cleaner fuels and said their workers could perform more than just one job.
However, the yacht company is not unionized, and officials with the Inland Boatman’s Union said very few of their members were hired by Hornblower. Hornblower has maintained that Blue and Gold workers are welcome to apply for jobs.

Editors Note - Even though the Hornblower spokesperson claims that "anyone can apply", the liklihood is that union supporters will not be hired, as we have thus far seen. She may as well have said that, "anybody can try to sprout wings and fly," but very likely few would succeed.
