5 Years of Musical Struggle! - The Brass Liberation Orchestra Turns 5 Years old
- If you have heard us on the street, if you have danced during a lockdown,
- if you have shuffled with us on a picket line, if you have played with us,
- if you want to dance dance dance...please come out!
Since 2002, the Brass Liberation Orchestra has been playing hard to support actions/campaigns/movements and events for social, racial and economic justice here and around the world. From picket lines to street blockades, from school picnics to organizational fundraising events to soccer games, we have humbly attempted to continue the rich legacy of political protest music. We play music with a long tradition in social movements, we play some newer popular tunes and we play some original tunes as well.
While the past five years have been filled with war, continued economic oppression and attacks on working class, immigrant people and people of color, there have also been some victories. From the farmworkers of Imokalee to several unions locally, we have been honored to celebrate some victories along the way.
To honor these victories, to thank all the people who have helped us along the way to learn and grow as a radical cultural group in the Bay Area, and to honor the neighborhood that has been so kind to us...
